NBA have been commissioned to produce design of a large, contemporary apartment building on a prominent plot in Shirley. The proposal comprises 27 x two-bedroom apartments privileged to expansive views overlooking Shirley Park.
The contemporary design aims to be striking and distinctive, which will stand out for its quality of form, materials and craftsmanship. By a considered approach the design aspires to set a benchmark for any future development in Shirley, fitting of its’ prominent corner setting.
The buildings’ façade has been designed to a strong vertical orientation, dissected into sections to break up the overall mass. This has been achieved by a carefully selected, distinct pallet of materials, along projecting and recessing sections of the façade to create variety in massing.
A stepped roof starts at 3 storeys to draw relationships to the neighbouring 2 and 3 storey buildings, gradually stepping up to 5 to create a prominent corner setting, whilst also relating to the 4 storey, pitched roof apartment building opposite.
